A snack on a rainy day evening. Unexpected heavy rain with thunder storm. Even it was a summer shower the nature quickly get cool and dense dark around 4 pm. It’s is tea time. Reminds my childhood memories where amma will fry something instantly to sit down and chat and nibble.
Found raw nendran banana in the pantry. Got besan powder. Why not to try a baji?
Usually banana baji is made of culinary purpose banana and not with nendran. Anyway it’s is a new recipe for me. Made it quickly. Had it with ginger coffee. Of course shared with our neighbor.
Nendran large 2, why large ? because this is circular baji.
Ingredients
Besan flour 1 cup, chilli powder 1 tsp., turmeric powder and hing a pinch each, salt to taste.
Oil required to deep fry.
Preparation
Wash the banana. Wipe the moisture on it. Cut into thin circles. Keep away the head and tail portion. You can use it to stir fry for rice or use in sambar or avial.
In a bowl add rest of the ingredients except oil, combine well, sprinkle water and prepare a thick batter.
Heat the oil in a shallow pan. Dip the banana coronial the besan batter and fry both sides till golden fry. Came out crispy and tasty. Most lovely snack with coffee on a rainy evening ❤️
