#covid19# lockdowncooking# staysafestayhealthy # Rice starch water upma( kanjivellam upma)

Starch water is the drained water from cooked rice. We use to cook parboiled rice. The starch water is used here. Rice starch water is very good for skin treatment, shampoo for healthy hair, organic pesticide for mealy bugs, good for diarrhoea, like that it goes on.
It is good for making rasam and moru curry. I had it years back from my Karnataka friend. During this lockdown I prepared jaggery and sugar Halwa with rice starch water and cornflour. Already posted in my blog.
Then I tried upma. Made out of a glass only. It came out well. Today needs to share with my friends. Thought to give some thing new. So went for kanjivellam upma.
Ingredients for rice starch water cubes for upma
Rice starch water ( kanjivellam) 4 cups,

Fried fine rice flour 1 cup,
Coconut oil 1 tbsp.,( if the starch water is more sticky add 2 tbsp. coconut oil),
Salt to taste,
Turmeric powder 1/2 tsp.
Combine the ingredients in a nonstick wok, heat on medium flame. Stir continuously. Within 10 minutes the mix thickens and gets separated from the sides. Off the flame. With the moist bottom of a flat spoon flatten the surface and allow to cool down. Then upside down it  on a plate. Cut it and chop it into small cubes.
